i’m not being fluffy or beating around the bush here. there are women that come into the clinic i volunteer at and are diagnosed with an STI, but they’re extremely confused how they got it because they didn’t stray at all from their long term partners.
their partners did not have any remaining decency to wear a condom when they were fucking around.
if you’re in a long term “monogamous” relationship, you tend think you’re immune to STIs, but you’re not. people stray all the time. if you stray, and plan on continuing to have sex with your partner, use a fucking condom. it’s shitty enough that you’re betraying their trust without also exposing them to potentially harmful STIs.
sit down with your partner. look at them. agree that if either strays, you will use protection, not only to protect yourselves but protect each other. that is the most minimal amount of decency you can have if you end up fucking someone else.
